Colorado edges Kings 2–1 again while Los Angeles starts wondering if anything will actually change.

The Colorado Avalanche are keeping things simple—and very effective—taking Game 2 2–1 over the Los Angeles Kings to grab a 2–0 series lead. If this feels familiar, it should. It’s basically the same script as Game 1… just replayed with slightly more pressure.

Once again, Colorado controlled the game without making it look flashy. They got their goals, locked things down defensively, and forced Los Angeles to work for every inch of ice. The Kings didn’t play badly—they just played against a team that refuses to give them anything easy.

Los Angeles managed to stay close, just like in the opener, and once again made things interesting late. But “interesting” isn’t the same as “effective.” Every push from the Kings ran into the same problem: Colorado’s structure, discipline, and ability to shut things down when it matters most.

At this point, it’s starting to feel like a pattern. Tight game, one-goal margin, Avalanche in control. The Kings are right there—but somehow always one step behind. And in the playoffs, that small gap becomes a very big problem.

Game 2 goes to Colorado, who now lead the series 2–0 and look completely comfortable playing this style. For Los Angeles, the question is getting louder: how many times can you lose 2–1 before something has to change?
